CENTRAL ST MARTINS, WOMENSWEAR COLLECTION 09

Title: 'Mirror in Mirror'

Date 10.2008 - 05.2009

Inspiration: Arvo Paert's music 'Mirror in Mirror', clouds and rainbow, reflection in a kaleidoscope.

Concept: Repetition of a detail or part of a garment in different angles, use of different textured, grey fabrics and plain blocks of colour, blurring shapes and detail with lots of layers of organza.

Objective: Garments with a function and a high wearing comfort. Unfamiliar shapes softened with the mass of organza create a blurry cloud-like volume, but the silhouette should still be casually sexy.

Task: Designing a collection with specified use of denim.

MUSE COLLECTION

Title: ‘Miss Well Organized’

Date: 06.2006

Inspiration: The imagined Muse ‘Miss Well Organized’ is the superlative of hygiene and order. She lives in a glass apartment on the top of a building separated from the outside world, she works in a lab and has allergies to all sorts of things in particular plants. By mischance she loves flowers. So the unfortunate scientist finds ways to work around it by growing them in shielded ecosystems or displaying them on screens.

Feeling: A strictly hygienic and stiff feeling with the use of different white fabrics, which are packed in between transparent fabrics in order to avoid the feel of the textures. The main colour is white with the minimal use of mint, grey and a ‘chemical’, bright red.
